Have you ever stopped to think about who is Jesus Christ to you? What roles does he play in your life? A brother a father or judge? This post will explore Jesus Christ’s teachings, how they have impacted the world today, and thought-provoking questions to help you discover who Jesus Christ is to you and practical ways you can enhance your discipleship.

Jesus Christ Spiritual Teacher Through Metaphor and Deed

Jesus Christ told us in Matthew 5:44 to “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you.

The above scripture illustrates Jesus’ compassion, mercy, and emphasis on forgiveness rather than judgment. It also challenges us to reflect upon our own actions and attitudes toward others, reminding us of the importance of practicing humility and grace in our lives.

This lesson on humility and grace is not the first nor the last time we are taught to encompass such practices into our lives. When teachings are repeated in the bible it is a way of emphasizing the lesson and the increased level of importance it encompasses. 

The Bible tells of multiple morality lessons demonstrating mercy, forgiveness, and inner reflection. The Gospel of John (8:1-11) tells a story about an adulterous woman being persecuted in the streets for her sinful behavior. The story is as follows:

The Adulterous Women

Religious leaders bring a woman who has been caught in the act of adultery to Jesus, intending to trap him. They remind Jesus that the punishment for adultery according to the law of Moses is stoning. They ask Jesus what should be done with her, trying to test him.

Instead of condemning the woman, Jesus responds by stooping down and writing in the sand. When they persist in asking him, Jesus famously says, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Then he continues writing in the sand.

One by one, starting with the oldest, the accusers leave until only Jesus and the woman remain. Jesus asks her where her accusers are, and if anyone has condemned her. She responds, “No one, sir.” Jesus then declares, “Then neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin.”

The History of Jesus Christ

Foreordination, Birth, and Early Life of Jesus Christ 

Jesus was born in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph. His birth was foretold in the scriptures. Matthew 1:18 – 25 describes the angel Gabriel appearing to Joseph in a dream, announcing the miraculous conception of Jesus by the Holy Spirit and instructing him to name the child Jesus, which means “God saves,” because he will save his people from their sins.

Ministry of Jesus Christ

Jesus began his public ministry around the age of 30. He traveled throughout the region of Galilee, preaching, teaching, and performing miracles. He attracted a following of disciples and gained attention for his wisdom and compassion.

Teachings of Jesus Christ

Jesus’ teachings focused on love, compassion, forgiveness, and the Kingdom of God. He delivered the Sermon on the Mount, which includes the Beatitudes and teachings on morality and ethics. He often used parables to convey spiritual truths.

Miracles of Jesus Christ

Jesus performed numerous miracles, including healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, raising the dead, and calming storms. These miracles were seen as signs of his divine authority and power.

Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Jesus’ ministry culminated in his crucifixion in Jerusalem, where he was executed by Roman authorities. Jesus died to atone for the sins of humanity. Three days later, he rose from the dead, an event known as the Resurrection, which is celebrated on Easter Sunday.

Ascension of Jesus Christ

After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples before ascending into heaven. Christians believe that he will return one day in glory to judge the living and the dead.
