Day 3: The Gift of Forgiveness

Scripture Reading:
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32

Reflection:
Forgiveness is one of the most profound expressions of God’s love. Through Jesus Christ, we’ve been forgiven of sins we could never atone for ourselves. This gift is not just for us to receive but also to extend to others.

Forgiving someone who has wronged you isn’t easy. The pain and hurt often feel too deep to let go. But forgiveness is not about excusing bad behavior or pretending the hurt didn’t happen. Instead, it’s about freeing yourself from the weight of resentment and trusting God to bring justice and healing.

When we forgive, we reflect God’s mercy and grace. Holding onto unforgiveness only builds a prison around our hearts. But when we forgive, we step into the freedom God desires for us—a life marked by peace and reconciliation.

Practical Tip:
Take time to reflect on any unforgiveness you might be holding. Write down the names of those you need to forgive and offer them up to God in prayer. Ask Him to help you release the hurt and embrace His peace. Remember, forgiveness is a process, and God will give you the strength to walk through it.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for forgiving me through Jesus Christ. Help me to extend that same forgiveness to others, even when it’s hard. Heal my heart, release my burdens, and teach me to love as You do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge:
Reach out to someone you’ve been struggling to forgive, even if it’s just a kind word or prayer for their well-being. Trust God to work in your heart and theirs.

Key Verse for Memorization:
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13
