Easter is a beautiful time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and reflect on the hope and joy of His sacrifice. Here are 10 faith-based Christian activities to help kids and families focus on the true meaning of Easter while having fun together!

1. Resurrection Eggs 🥚📖

Resurrection Eggs are a hands-on way to tell the Easter story using 12 plastic eggs, each containing a small symbol representing Jesus’ journey to the cross and resurrection.

✅ Fill each egg with items like:

  • A donkey figurine (Jesus’ triumphal entry)
  • A coin (Judas’ betrayal)
  • A piece of cloth (Jesus’ burial)
  • An empty egg (the empty tomb—Jesus is alive!)

📖 Read the Bible verse that corresponds with each egg and discuss its significance.

2. Easter Story Time & Bible Verses 📖✝️

Gather children and read the Easter story from the Bible. Some key passages:

📖 Matthew 28:5-6 – He is not here; He has risen!
📖 John 3:16 – For God so loved the world…
📖 Luke 24:6-7 – Remember how He told you…

🎨 Let kids illustrate their favorite scene from the story as a craft!

3. Foot Washing Like Jesus 🦶💧

Teach kids about servant-hearted love by recreating Jesus washing the disciples’ feet (John 13:1-17).

✨ Set up a basin of warm water and take turns washing each other’s feet while discussing why Jesus served others.

🙌 Ask reflection questions:

  • How can we serve others like Jesus?
  • How does it feel to be cared for by someone else?

4. Christian Easter Egg Hunt ✝️🥚

Instead of candy, fill eggs with Bible verses, small crosses, or prayer cards!

✝️ Ideas for Bible Verse Fillers:

  • “He is Risen!” (Matthew 28:6)
  • “The Lord is my strength and my song.” (Psalm 118:14)
  • “I am the resurrection and the life.” (John 11:25)

📜 Bonus: Hide a “Golden Egg” containing a special blessing or a small donation for charity.

5. Make a Resurrection Garden 🌿🌸

Create a mini garden scene representing Jesus’ empty tomb!

🌱 What You Need:

  • A small pot or tray
  • Dirt & grass seeds (to symbolize new life)
  • A small clay pot laid on its side (Jesus’ tomb)
  • A stone to roll away (representing the empty tomb)

📖 Read Mark 16:1-6 as a family and discuss the significance of the empty tomb.

6. DIY Cross Craft ✝️🎨

Create a beautiful cross as a reminder of Jesus’ love!

🎨 Craft Ideas:

  • Popsicle Stick Crosses – Glue & paint them with bright colors.
  • Nail & String Cross – Hammer nails into wood in the shape of a cross & wrap colorful string around them.
  • Paper Mosaic Cross – Tear construction paper into pieces & glue them onto a cross outline.

📖 While crafting, discuss why the cross is central to Easter.

7. Easter Worship & Praise Dance 🎶🙌

Have a family worship time with Easter-themed Christian songs!

🎵 Song Ideas:

  • “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today” 🎶
  • “My Redeemer Lives” 🎶
  • “Because He Lives” 🎶

👶 For younger kids: Let them use ribbons, scarves, or flags to dance along!

🙏 Afterward, take turns praying and thanking God for Jesus’ resurrection.

8. Christian Easter Card Making & Acts of Kindness 💌🌷

Have kids create Easter cards with Bible verses and uplifting messages.

💌 Card Ideas:

  • “Rejoice! Jesus is alive!” ✝️
  • “Because He Lives, We Have Hope!” 💛
  • “He is Risen!” 🎉

👵 Deliver the cards to:

  • Elderly neighbors or family members
  • Church members who need encouragement
  • Nursing homes or hospitals

🛑 Bonus Challenge: Encourage kids to do one act of kindness for someone each day leading up to Easter.
